GSIM indicates that he left with 1 DShK, 4 boxes of DShK ammunition, 4 boxes of belted ammunition, 8 French assault rifles with 28 magazines, 1 AK, 2 AK magazines and 1 handgun. We also learn that a vehicle had been destroyed by an IED and another set on fire.
« The claim was made in the group’s weekly review in audio format and constitutes the first attack claimed in Togo », specifies MENASTREAM.
First deadly terrorist attack
This attack is also the first deadly Togo has experienced since the terrorist threat raged in the West African sub-region.
November 2021, the Togolese armed forces suffered a first attack. But the reaction had been forceful and the assailants had to retreat.
Note that the Togolese Minister of Security had for his part indicated that about fifteen terrorists were killed during the exchange of fire.
“According to well-informed sources, there are about fifteen dead in the group of attackers… What they were able to do was quickly transport the bodies to the other side of the border where they were buried”, said General Damehame Yark.
